The Grin Mission
Plastic bag bans hit the U.S. and we were struggling with where to turn and what to do next. What seemingly looked like a wonderful intiative for the country felt awfully deceptive to my wallet. I realized quickly that I was now buying my plastic bags instead of snagging them for free as they once were. I knew to make and, ultimately, see a difference for the future of our planet, I had to design the solution that was not going to end up in a landfill next to the root of the problem.
The Grin mission is to thoughtfully design and consider each and every material going into our products in order for them to biodegrade naturally into the earth. Notice there are no buttons, zippers, or snaps, this meaning no unwanted plastics or metals that would not biodegrade properly with the rest of our materials.
After your Grin bag's long life of carrying groceries, beach towels, and life's long list of essentials, we ask that you cut it up and bury it so it can naturally biodegrade into the earth and avoid the landfill.
The fabric has been tested in accordance with the FDA specifications for food safety by The Hong Kong Standards And Testing Centre Ltd. It also complies with STANDARD 100 of OEKO-TEX®.

The thread used for constructing the products is 100% organic cotton with no coating or synthetic fibers or fillers. Complies with STANDARD 100 of OEKO-TEX® and Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold.

The thread used for logo embroidery is MADEIRA SENSA GREEN 40: 100% lyocell with no coating or synthetic fibers or fillers. Complies with STANDARD 100 of OEKO-TEX®.

Embroidery backing is 50/50 cotton/bamboo no synthetic fibers or fillers.
The cord is 100% natural cotton made with no coatings or synthetic fibers or fillers.
(we are working to find a cording that is also certified and complies with eco standards;
however we have confirmed with the manufacturer that the quality and components are accurate in order to abide by our standards of fully biodegradable product.)
